Is your pet microchipped? Microchipping provides a permanent, inexpensive form of identification that cannot be lost, altered, or intentionally removed. The process is quick and painless and can help ensure a happy reunion. What is a microchip? A tiny glass inert capsule the size of a grain of rice. It contains an identification number linking you to your pet. How does it work? If the unthinkable happens and your pet wanders away - a vet, rescue centre or dog warden will use a small hand-held scanner to detect the microchip number. This number is registered ith PetLog, the national central database run by the Kennel Club. PetLog will confirm your contact details and you will be reunited with your pet. Petlog has a database of over 3 million animals residing in the UK. The most common being dogs and cats… but there are also rabbits, ferrets, horses, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, even an elephant!! If your pet is lost while you are travelling in Europe, you can still be traced as PetLog is the UK member of the European Pet Network. Where is the implant site ? Under the skin between the shoulder blades. How long will it take to implant the chip? Just a few moments! In fact, by the time you complete the PetLog registration form, you pet will be protected by the latest Id technology. How long does registration last? Your pet is registered for life! Can all scanners read pet-detect® chips? pet-detect® uses the latest technology from Germany (FDX-B) and can by scanned ad nauseam by all ISO scanners. Perfect for PETS travel! Do you plan to travel abroad? Before you get a pet passport, your animal must be microchipped in order to comply with regulations. The Kilvroch Chipping Serve: Eileen is a certified microchipper for Petlog, and can microchip dogs, cats, ferrets and rabbits. She uses the pet-detect® microchipping system and has a universal scanner which can read chips from all countries. What does it cost? The normal rate is £15 per animal. This includes the PetLog registration fee. I only charge £12 per animal for 4 or more pets chipped at one visit. Perhaps you would like to schedule a microchipping clinic at your dog club?
